Thanks for the sweet comment! I'm glad I could clear that up for you! A lot of people think that you don't eat any carbs on SB or Atkins when you really do! And by the end of the programs when you've lost the weight and are going into a maintenance for life mode, you are adding back in all sorts of really healthy carbs. It's just a different way of looking at it then calorie counting. :)

Just responding to a comment you left on Newton's blog about surviving with no carbs-with South Beach and Atkins you go through a 2 week "induction" where you cut out ALL pasta, bread, rice, potatoes, everything like that; you don't even eat fruit. During those two weeks, the carbs you eat come from green leafy vegetables-so you are still eating carbs, but not the processed, sugary kinds. Hope this clears that up for you! :)

Mixing drinks was always kind of fun for me (I'm a closet chef but too impatient to cook). I've read, memorized and perfected literally hundreds of drink recipies.

I got a job tending at a place in Bakersfield called The Syndicate Lounge through a friend. This is going to sound mean but I RARELY had to mix a drink because all these hicks drank nothing but beer. (Budweiser no less! YUCK!) It was just pulling the tap, pulling the tap. Most of the time, it was a pretty basic drink: something and Coke (rum, Jack, scotch etc.) and only once in a while it was a fun drink to make.

For you, I'd make a virgin Cosmopolitan garnished with an orange slice. ^_^

(O_O Eyes wide open in pleasant shock.) Whoa!

Love the new, uh, alluring profile picture! You can really see the difference in the contour of your cheekline!

(Swallowing nervously.) Yeah, wow. Uh, is it getting hot in here? (Fidgeting with my mouse.) And where the hell did I put those other pictures of Victoria?

Last day in nyc
Sep 7, 2010

Hi! I'm leaving NYC tomorrow to visit my parents for a few weeks before heading back here to work. I am excited to have a break! I didn't have a break after graduating, went straight into work. So now I'm having a little break and I plan to catch up on sleep, workout A LOT, learn to cook, take my dog for walks, play the piano, and let my parents have a good time with me!
Today is my last night in NYC. My friend brought over a bottle of champagne and we had a good time over some jazz music. I can't wait to come back in a few weeks!
I finished my assignment on Friday so I didn't have to work these few days. It was crazy going out, lots of alcohol. I had about 2 drinks per night. I have to admit that after 5 days in a row, its really hard to think of drinking anymore alcohol. I went out with friends, and had a crazy ton of friend my last few days here. I worked out today, felt amazing. But its a little hard to workout after drinking alcohol for so many days.
I'll blog again once I get home!

Reflections

One month ago, I had my first session with my trainer. We did 30 min of resistance/ weight exercises. I thought I was gonna DIE. I felt like puking after and hurt for many days after.
Yesterday, I did 25 min of cardio, then had a 1 hour session with my trainer (weights/ resistance exercises/ abs) and I survived. It wasn't as bad as the first session with him.
Weight has been stabilized around 134 lbs. That's not what I want. I was about 145 lbs last summer so that's good and around 140 lbs in school. So I need to get back down to the 120s for real.
Other than that, I am leaving New York next week and traveling to see my family for 3 weeks. I will walk my dog, and probably make myself go jogging on the track near by, and get a tan at the same time. I don't know if I'll have access to a gym so I might want to bring back resistance bands... Also, I'm going to be traveling a lot for the next 2 months, I won't be settled till November, so I guess its time to go hunt for those bands...
Eating has been ok. I took my friends for New York Cheesecake yesterday. The 3 of us shared a slice. I also realized that I am a really slow eater compared to my friends... We went for Japanese food 2 nights in a row, and somehow I just couldn't finish my food and ate my leftovers for breakfast! Saving money is nice too.
Today- going for a dinner to meet other sorority sisters. Its Chinese food URGH and unlimited white wine. I'm skipping the wine for sure and just eating half of my food. I feel I eat way too much grease eating out everyday.
Thursday- meeting broker after work.
Friday- dinner with friend.
So I will have to delay my workouts this week. I hope the gym will be less crowded!

Happy Friday! *strategies for dealing with guests*
Aug 27, 2010

Happy Friday!
I have 3 friends from the West Coast coming to visit. One got here yesterday, 2 more are coming tomorrow. Here are my strategies of dieting while having guests:
-we will go around trying LOTS of food and drinking. As usual, 1-2 drinks max, I only drink on fri & sat, other days I get it virgin style.
-For food, probably share with my friends since there's a group of us
-Gonna work out 30 min after work. My guests can wait, I don't care, I just need to work out. I'm cutting down my usual 1 hour, so its a compromise.
-Walk a LOT! That's a good way to save on subway rides too. I'm making my guests walk hahaha, and they will appreciate it. I told them to be ready to walk like A LOT.
-If we go out dancing, that's a good workout too! Last week's 3 hour dancing was EXHAUSTING.
