I've been away but now I'm back

I haven't been to this site in months, but I had an update in my e-mail box this morning and decided to give it a look. And I'm glad I did because I got a little bit of an ego boost. I'm still going to the gym and trying (unsuccessfully) to watch my sugar intake. Well, for the past month or so I've been stuck at 144/145. I haven't weighed myself for over a week because I was getting so dissappointed that the number wasn't going down. But when I checked out my WC profile today, my weight was listed at 148. So I've lost around 3.5 pounds over the summer! Which was encouraging to see. The only thing I can think of is that I've started watching my portions, and I stop eating a bite or two before I'm full. Seems to be working for small improvements.

Sugar, mainly chocolate, is still a big obstacle for me. And now that it's Halloween time, I can only see it getting harder to resist. But I'm just going to have to suck it up and deal with it. I've heard that if you don't eat something for 21 days your body doesn't crave it anymore...

p.s. did anyone catch the Jesus and Mary Chain song reference?
